Ever walked into a restaurant, cafe, boutique, hotel, or a spa and suddenly felt different all of a sudden?
Or maybe even felt a sense of calm once you have come back to your favourite corner of your home at the end of a long day?
Well, that is the job of an interior designer- to design an ambience or an experience that leaves an impression on the person in that space.
What most people do not know is that there are so many elements at work to create that feeling. Right from lighting, to furniture, to
upholstery, decor items, art, music, and so much more.
In this course, we provide the students with an intensive knowledge of all of the above.
The course also covers a design process that deals with conceptualizing a theme, finding an inspiration, understanding pattern and texture, planning a layout, understanding ornamentation and furnishings like wall coverings, floor coverings, playing with light and learning the art of designing spaces both residential and commercial. Along with this, students are given practical insight about how one needs to coordinate with contractors, understand furniture, fittings and equipment, budget planning and optimization. Your client could be anyone right from a homemaker to a restaurant owner. Understanding what feeling they want from their space, or what they want their space to say about their brand, is another important aspect that we focus on in this course.
During the course, the students work on the presentation of a project which they complete by working together as a team. The project is inclusive of sample boards, written work and drawings to back up their inspirations. They study trends and influences. All this is done under the tutelage of an experienced interior designer throughout the course.
The London School of Trends has an exclusive tie-up with Decorex (a design exhibition) and making the students attend this exhibition is a part of the programme in the first week itself. Our course includes several visits and field trips to museums, boutiques and other fairs, where the students are taught how to appreciate and study the various types of designs, designers and their inspirations. You will then be required to make your assessments and participate in classroom discussions regarding the same.
Throughout this course, you will be trained right from scratch. From what you need to ask your client, to how to make a client brief, what factors to pay attention to, how to co-ordinate your vision with the contractors, etc.
As the course progresses, a detailed study of furniture and the evolution of it, designing for contemporary spaces versus modern spaces, and practical knowledge about dealing with suppliers, etc will be impressed upon you.
With a well-rounded approach to interior design and styling, this course will certainly give you the most important foundation for you to be able to pursue a career along this path.
On completion of this course, some of the fields that will be open to you are: - Interior designing and styling for homes and residential spaces
